Atezolizumab 1200mg/20mL injection also known by the brand name Tecentriq is an anticancer drug used in the treatment of lung cancer. It is a monoclonal antibody used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is also often used in combination with other medicines and can be used to treat small-cell lung cancer. Atezolizumab blocks the effect of the proteins necessary for the functioning of cancer cells. It also stimulates immune cells to fight against the cancer cells.

Tecentriq 1200mg/20mL Injection vial (Atezolizumab) is administered as an intravenous infusion. It is a prescription-based drug. Therefore, the dosage, and duration of the medication will be decided by the doctor. Also, inform your doctor about all your prior medical conditions and allergies.

Mechanism Of Action

Atezolizumab (Tecentriq 1200mg Injection) is a monoclonal antibody that is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. It functions by binding to PD (programmed death) ligand1 and interferes in the binding of PD recptor1 to it. This binding blocks the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway and stimulates the immune response to fight against the cancer cells. This drug restores the antitumor T cell activity which attacks the cancer cells. This, as a result, stops the incontrollable growth and spreading of cancerous cells in the lungs.


  1. Allergies – Some components of Tecentriq Tecentriq 1200mg Injection (Atezolizumab) can start an allergic reaction. Hence, it is recommended to consult your doctor and find an appropriate alternative for this medicine.
  2. Pregnancy – Tecentriq 1200mg Injection (Atezolizumab) causes harm to the fetus hence, pregnancy should be avoided during and till 5 months after the last dose.
  3. Breastfeeding – Tecentriq 1200mg Injection (Atezolizumab) can pass through the milk thus, it is advised to stop breastfeeding during the treatment and till 5 months after the last dose.

Tecentriq 1200mg Injection (Atezolizumab) is not self-administered. It will be prepared by the doctors as an intravenous infusion. The dosage and duration will depend on the stage and type of cancer.

Missed Dosage

In case of a missed dosage, it is recommended to consult your doctor and book the next appointment immediately.


Not applicable for Tecentriq 1200mg Injection (Atezolizumab). Tecentriq should be given by a doctor. Thus, should not be stored at home.

  • Some ingredients of Atezolizumab (Tecentriq 1200mg Injection) might cause an allergic response. Redness, rashes, swelling around the injection site, wheezing and also breathlessness are some initial signs of allergy.
