Overview

Zoladex injection is a prescription medicine. It is an anticancer regimen used in the treatment of Prostate Cancer in men and Breast Cancer, Endometriosis, and Uterine Fibroids in women. This medicine is a synthetic hormone. Zoladex belongs to luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists. It is used both in men and women but for separate purposes. It is not safe for use in pregnant females.

Pharmacodynamic

The active ingredient of Zoladex is Goserelin. This compound is a synthetic decapeptide analog of LHRH. It tends to act as a potent inhibitor of pituitary gonadotropin secretion when given in a biodegradable formulation. The result of the same is sustained suppression of LH and serum testosterone levels. The pharmacology of Goserelin has been determined in (both men and women) healthy individuals and patients. In such studies, the compound was given as a single 250µg (aqueous solution) dose and as a single or multiple 3.6 mg depot dose by subcutaneous route of administration.

Usage Of Zoladex

Zoladex is prescribed for the treatment of certain types of cancers including cancer in the prostate gland, and breast. In women, it is also used to treat Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids. This medication is available in the form of an injection in a strength of 3.6mg. Zoladex (Goserelin) injection will be given under the skin by your healthcare professional. Do not self-administer.
