Glivec 400mg tablet is a chemotherapy medication that is used in the treatment of several blood cancers (leukemia) like myelodysplastic disorder. It is also used to treat gastrointestinal tumors. The generic name of this medication is Imatinib. It is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that shows antineoplastic activities. It is a strictly prescription-based medication.

Pharmacodynamics
Glivec is a 2-phenylaminopyrimidine derivative which is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It inhibits the working of kinase, especially BCR-ABL protein. This protein is responsible for the progression of cancer. Glivec shows antineoplastic properties that is it stops the cell growth and spreading of the cancer cells.
