Description

Cistero (Cisplatin) Injection is a medication that is used in the treatment of Metastatic testicular tumors, Metastatic ovarian tumors, Advanced bladder cancer, and other related conditions. The active ingredient of Cistero is Cisplatin. Cisplatin is an antineoplastic (in the class of alkylating agents). It is a chemotherapy drug used in the treatment of testicular, ovarian, bladder, head and neck, lung, cervical cancer, and other types of cancer.

Pharmacodynamics

Cisplatin is used to treat certain forms of cancer. Alkylating agents have the ability to add alkyl groups to many electronegative groups under conditions present in cells. They can stop tumor growth by cross-linking guanine bases in DNA double-helix strands – directly attacking DNA. This lets the strands unable to uncoil and separate. As this is necessary for DNA replication, the cells lose their ability to divide. In addition, such drugs then add methyl or other alkyl groups onto molecules. Alkylating agents are cell cycle-nonspecific. They work by three different mechanisms where each of them achieves the same result, which is the disruption of DNA function and cell death.

Contraindication

Do not take Cistero injection if you have a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
