Bdron 500mg is a hormone therapy medication. It is used in the treatment of prostate cancer in men. The generic name of this medication is Abiraterone acetate and it is an anti-androgen. This medication is strictly prescribed by the doctor who also decides the dose, and course of the treatment. It is only meant for the treatment of prostate cancer in men and should be avoided by women.
Pharmacodynamics
It is the CYP17 enzyme that catalyzes the formation of the androgens. These increased androgen levels furthermore influence the uncontrollable cell proliferation in the prostate gland. Bdron inhibits this CYP17 enzyme which consequently blocks the production of androgens. As a result, this medication stops the uncontrollable cell division and spreading of the tumor cells.
