Bevatas is an effective formulation of Bevacizumab prescribed for the treatment of certain types of cancers (colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, kidney cancer, brain tumor, ovarian and cervical cancer). Bevatas injection belongs to a group of biological response modifiers. This medicine is an anti-VEGF (Vascular endothelial growth factor) drug, which is used in the treatment of certain types of cancers. Bevatas injection has also been known as a promising and useful drug to treat patients suffering from severe and critical conditions of COVID-19.
Bevacizumab works by binding VEGF or circulating vascular endothelial-derived growth factor. It tends to block it from binding to its consequent receptors while effectively blunting downstream signaling. The effects of this compound have been demonstrated to re-establish normal vasculature at the tumor site leading to increased nutrient and oxygen supply. It also improves the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to the target region. On the other hand, VEGF signaling is a vital component of certain processes such as:
- blood pressure regulation
- wound healing
- renal filtration
Although blocking VEGF may lead to the inhibition of metastatic disease progression, it can also lead to unwanted effects because of the role of VEGF in several other physiologic processes.
It is important to know the interactions of Bevatas (Bevacizumab) injection with other drugs and diseases, before starting treatment with this medication.
- Gastrointestinal perforation
- Avoid consuming alcohol while receiving treatment with Bevatas (Bevacizumab) injection.
- Bevatas (Bevacizumab) injection is not indicated for use in the following cases:-
